Hailing from the storied region of Yirgacheffe, this coffee shows a wide range of flavors as is typical with Ethiopian coffees. The Kochere wet mill, where these beans are processed, has a strong reputation for upholding quality and paying farmers well for good coffees.
Coffee has varietals just like wine or apples - genetically different strains that have unique characteristics. While most countries grow about a dozen varietals commercially, Ethiopia has around 6,000 heirloom varietals growing wild. This stunning biodiversity is the reason why Ethiopian coffees have such a wide range of flavors.
